The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry in Latin America continues to expand, consolidating itself as a fundamental pillar for job creation and economic growth in the region. According to data from ProColombia, Colombia ranks third in BPO sector sales, with revenues of US$2.951 billion, trailing only Mexico (US$4.262 billion) and Brazil (US$6.250 billion).
In addition to its economic impact, the sector has become a key driver for employability, generating approximately 752,000 formal jobs in Colombia. Factors such as its strategic location, advanced technological infrastructure, and the growth of bilingualism have made the country an increasingly attractive destination for service outsourcing.
In this context of consolidation, Intelcia has played a key role in the sector’s development in Colombia. With over 20 years of experience in operations outsourcing, the company has positioned itself as a benchmark in the industry, combining talent, technology, and processes to offer innovative solutions in customer experience (CX), technology, and consulting.
According to María del Pilar Barrios, Intelcia’s Chief Growth Officer LATAM, the sector’s growth in the country responds to a series of conditions that have made it a key market for industry expansion.
“The rise of BPO in Colombia responds to a combination of qualified human talent, robust infrastructure, and an environment conducive to investment. At Intelcia, we continue to bet on the country as a strategic hub in the region, strengthening our operations to continue generating value in the sector,” said Barrios.
In terms of competitiveness, Colombia is among the countries with the greatest talent availability in the region. Currently, it has more than 524,000 higher education graduates in various areas, of which more than 175,000 hold degrees in STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), according to ProColombia.
As a key player in the industry, Intelcia has strengthened its presence in Colombia, ranking 13th in the country’s BPO ranking, with operating revenues of US$33 million in 2023. Its business model is based on the integration of technology, automation, and specialized talent to optimize operational efficiency and improve customer experience.
“The BPO sector has evolved beyond traditional outsourcing. Today, digitization and advanced analytics play a key role in process optimization and service personalization. At Intelcia, we work to continue driving these capabilities, ensuring innovative and efficient solutions for our clients,” added Barrios.
The growth of the BPO sector is projected strongly in the coming years. According to Statista estimates, the global outsourcing market will reach US$405 billion in 2025, consolidating the relevance of service outsourcing in the global economy.
In this scenario, Intelcia reaffirms its commitment to the sector’s development in Colombia and Latin America, betting on innovation, digitization, and the expansion of its operations. With a vision for the future, the company will continue to strengthen its presence in the country, consolidating itself as a strategic partner for companies seeking to evolve in an increasingly competitive environment.
